Our ever-energetic colleague Alex Bailey has been with Elmleigh since September 2016, initially supporting our Installation Electricians on various projects but quickly demonstrating an aptitude for the job and a desire to do more.
Consequently, Alex made a commitment to join our Apprentice scheme and has pursued the programme throughout the difficult pandemic period, to soon becoming a fully qualified Installation Electrician himself. As part of learning from our employee’s experience, we sat down together to ask some questions about his time at Elmleigh thus far as well as some fun questions at the end;
How have you enjoyed your time at Elmleigh?
I’ve really enjoyed my time with Elmleigh so far. It’s a great atmosphere with some great people.
What do you consider your biggest achievement at Elmleigh?
Completing my apprenticeship has to be my greatest achievement so far.
What new skills have you learnt on your journey so far?
I’ve really developed all of my skills whilst at Elmleigh, from installation to testing and fault finding, all the way through to my interpersonal skills.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Not being tied down to one place for too long, the variety of clients and projects keeps it interesting.
How do you balance your career at Elmleigh and family/personal time?
Sometimes it can be difficult when working out of town particularly, but it helps to pay for the lifestyle I'm accustomed to.
How has Elmleigh helped you in your career development?
Supporting me through my apprenticeship, as well as all of the other training they provide to keep me up to speed in the electrical industry.
What does a typical day for you look like?
Hard work with a few laughs in between.
