Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade for Gate Control System

Coventry, January, 2026

The challenge

Elmleigh was commissioned to deliver a comprehensive electrical infrastructure upgrade across multiple gate control systems at a major Global Snack Manufacturer. The project encompassed the design, manufacture, and installation of bespoke stainless steel control panels and associated electrical works for four distinct gate areas: Logistics Gate, Goods-In Gate, Car & Pedestrian Gate, and Shunter & Lorry Gate.

Teams Involved

Scope of Works

Each gate required a custom-built control panel tailored to accommodate a range of integrated systems. Elmleigh’s engineering team designed and manufactured stainless steel enclosures featuring:

  • A panel distribution board with surge protection.
  • Dedicated accommodation for Mitrefinch ACU units, complete with unswitched fuse spurs.
  • Lockable isolators for Global Vision gate motors, turnstiles, and pedestrian gate supply units.
  • Space allocation for a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
  • Integration of a fire alarm interface relay.
  • Climate control via a panel heater.
  • Twin RCD panel sockets for safe maintenance access.
  • Optional supply connections for CES Belisha beacon units.

Project Delivery

Elmleigh delivered a full electrical installation package to support the new gate control systems. This included dedicated power supplies to each panel, local data connections for system integration, and assistance with fire alarm interfacing. All cabling required for Mitrefinch and Global Vision equipment was supplied and installed, ensuring a fully connected and operational infrastructure.

To enhance site visibility and safety at the Shunter & Lorry Gate, Elmleigh supplied two 5-metre lampposts for civil installation. Each post was fitted with four SOL-HYB-45-MID Solar Hybrid Street Lights (45W, 7500lm, 4000K), supplied by Brighter Lighting. Our team also completed all associated cabling works to support the solar-powered lighting system, ensuring reliable and energy-efficient illumination.

Outcome

This multi-gate control system upgrade was delivered with precision and attention to detail, ensuring seamless integration of access control, safety, and power management systems. The bespoke nature of the panels and the collaborative installation approach enabled Elmleigh to meet the client’s operational and security requirements across the entire site.
