Skelmersdale, September 2025
A long-standing client in the Snack Food Industry identified the need to modernise and expand their electrical infrastructure to support a new office layout and refurbished reception.
They engaged Elmleigh to deliver a full turnkey solution, encompassing strip-out and new installations across multiple areas of the facility.
The Teams
The Challenge
The client required a complete electrical overhaul within a live environment. This included the integration of:
- New lighting control systems.
- Power distribution.
- Containment solutions.
All of this needed to be installed while maintaining operational continuity.
The reception area required a sensitive approach. We needed to carefully isolate and remove existing systems, including legacy lighting, heaters, and power to the reception booth and canopy. The space also needed reimagining with modern dado trunking, USB-equipped socket outlets, and an efficient layout to support staff and visitors.
The Solution
Our team began by installing new containment systems from the Phase 12 cut-off area into the Phase 3 zone. This included bespoke basket containment fixed to G-style hanger brackets, allowing for efficient routing of power and data cabling throughout the office and reception areas.
Key installations included:
- Power & Lighting Circuits: Installed new circuits for general sockets, cleaners’ sockets, and TV points, utilising LSF white twin and earth cabling for safety and compliance. We routed lighting circuits to new control modules, enabling zoned PIR-based control for energy efficiency.
- Reception Refurbishment: Transformed the reception area with new dado and skirting trunking, RCD-protected double sockets with USB ports, and a modern layout. We safely removed redundant systems, including electric doors, heaters, and external lighting.
- Distribution Board Upgrades: Installed MCB and RCBO circuit breakers to support the new infrastructure, with lighting control modules mounted securely to containment or walls.
- Changing Room Strip-Out & Temporary Works: Stripped out the Gents Changing Rooms, removing all legacy lighting and heating systems. The team installed temporary festoon lighting to maintain safe access during the works.
- New Installations in Welfare Areas: Installed LED panel lights, emergency fittings, and occupancy sensors throughout the toilets and cleaners’ cupboards. Additional circuits were provided for cleaners’ sockets and Dyson 3-in-1 taps, each protected by RCD spur units and 10A fuses.
We completed all works per BS7671 standards, with full testing and certification provided. RAMS were developed and followed throughout the project to ensure safety and compliance at every stage.
