Multiphase Infrastructure Lighting Upgrade

Coventry, 2026

The challenge

Elmleigh was appointed to carry out a multiphase infrastructure upgrade at a live operational site. The project, delivered over several years, included the design, supply, and installation of advanced lighting systems, stainless steel cable containment, emergency lighting improvements, and temporary power solutions. All work was completed with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations, maintaining full safety and compliance throughout, this was also a joint approach with Brighter Lighting who supplied the lighting.

Scope of Works

Lighting Installation

New lighting was installed using stainless steel trunking along the main ceiling structure, chosen for its durability and hygienic properties. Lights were connected through stainless steel conduit to junction boxes fitted with water-resistant plugs, all powered from distribution boards.

During the progression of this project our team installed:

  • 35 double high-level light sets,
  • 23 double high-level and 10 single low-level light sets,
  • 3 rows of double high-level light sets.

All luminaires were IP66 rated with IK10 impact protection, delivering up to 8000 lumens at 170Lm/W or 6500 lumens at 136Lm/W, and covered by a five-year warranty. A TEE piece was installed for future trunking extension, and the project qualified under the Enhanced Capital Allowances Scheme.

Temporary Power & Lighting

Temporary power and lighting systems were set up to support work in active areas. These included distribution boards, 110V transformers, and task lighting suspended from scaffolding. All temporary equipment was pre-assembled off-site and removed after each phase. Lift platforms were used to ensure safe access during installation.

Power Distribution Upgrade

A new supply was installed from LV3 to a 12-way TP&N distribution board, including:

  • A new 100A MCCB,
  • SWA cable fixed with stainless steel ty-wraps,
  • Stainless steel sloping roof enclosure

Project Outcome

The project successfully delivered a robust, compliant, and future-ready lighting and power infrastructure across multiple operational zones. Through phased execution and the use of high-specification materials, Elmleigh ensured minimal disruption, enhanced safety, and long-term energy efficiency.
