The challenge
A client approached Elmleigh with a critical issue: one of their specialist machines was overheating during operation, creating a hazardous environment and risking product integrity. Our task was to design a robust solution that could detect overheating in real time, simulate fire suppression systems, and protect both machine safety and production quality. By integrating advanced monitoring and automated response technology, Elmleigh delivered a system that minimizes downtime, enhances workplace safety, and ensures compliance with industry standards.

The Solution
The system is powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE), supporting 8–12 thermal cameras and a mini-PC housed within the control panel, eliminating the need for separate power supplies. Cameras are mounted on magnetic holders, allowing flexible placement inside machinery for accurate temperature monitoring. With a customizable temperature threshold, the system activates an audible alarm and red beacon when limits are exceeded, ensuring immediate attention and preventing costly downtime or safety hazards.
The panel includes a lock-off muting function and a zero-volt isolated contact for external signalling, enabling future integration with fire suppression systems and other safety devices. This flexibility allows customers to adapt the solution across multiple applications within their facility.
One of the biggest challenges was integrating two software platforms: the default camera setup software and advanced surveillance software for real-time visualization. Due to incompatibility between external products, Elmleigh developed a custom solution for seamless performance. An inbuilt HMI screen displays all thermal camera feeds with zoom capabilities, enabling detailed analysis and proactive machine safety management.
