Our History

We have been providing electrical & mechanical automation systems since 1984.

Established in 1984 as an electrical installation contractor, Elmleigh has grown to become one of the leading full-service system integrators for automation systems in food processing and parcel sortation. We have unrivalled expertise in these sectors and present a premium service proposition to our clients.

Starting as an electrical installation contractor based in the small Leicestershire town of Earl Shilton, Elmleigh quickly developed a reputation as an automation specialist, designing and integrating electrical systems at a major snack-foods manufacturing site in Leicester. As this reputation was more widely recognised, and through close collaboration with our partner conveyor OEMs, the business developed across other food processing sectors and into the parcel sortation sector. Having achieved approved contractor status with many blue-chip organisations, we became and now maintain preferred contractor status at several UK sites and provide our specialist services around the world.

A move in 2008 to Barwell brought expansion of our manufacturing facilities to include fabrication of bespoke stainless-steel components to complement our installations at food processing sites along with an increased capacity for control panel assembly. The move also provided office space for continued expansion of our design and project management resources as well as space to host client project meetings.

2022 brought two significant developments. The relocation of the business to Wheatfield Way in Hinckley providing up to the minute facilities for our operations and providing capacity for growth, along with incorporation into the Leadec group of companies supporting our strategic plans.

Our capabilities now include full system design, assembly and installation for both the electrical and mechanical elements of our clients’ automation projects. ISO 9001 certified and SSIP accredited, we boast a highly trained team maintained through continual investment in professional development, to provide world-class services for the integration of electrical and mechanical automation systems for food processing and parcel sortation systems.
