Integration of new Load Cells for Raw Material Mixing into a Legacy Control System

Derbyshire, January 2024

The Challenge

How do you integrate the latest control equipment into an incompatible legacy control system, with minimal modification and disruption to production schedules?

The Solution

Elmleigh delivered on all Mechanical, Electrical, and Software elements of this complex project, presenting the client with a bespoke solution designed around Siemens Control Systems, manufactured, installed and commissioned using SIWAREX Load Cell technology to replace the existing and problematic level sensors on a raw materials mixing machine. The solution is fully integrated providing resultant control signal output into the legacy control system.

The Outcome

The client now enjoys the benefits of accurate and reliable raw material dosing into their mixing application, creating a more consistent product, gaining unforseen benefits of improved performance and efficiency on upstream production lines. From initial disconnection to final commissioning, all works were completed within existing production shutdown windows, creating a zero-impact changeover process.
